Ahhh..the changing of the seasons! What does that mean for you?
For me it means putting the garden to rest after a productive year. However, this year our garden wasn’t so productive, well not as much as I’d of liked for it to have been. We battled the bugs and lack of rain. We did can tomato relish, the first time for us, and it is so delicious. I dried a lot of tomatoes for use in soups and chili this winter. We also were blessed with a good crop of Acorn squash and Greasy green beans. Oh so delicious!!
Changing of seasons also means pulling out winter clothes and putting away summer ones. I usually take that time to sort through the previous season’s clothes and get rid of what I didn’t wear, even if it was only for a time or two. I like taking mine to a resale shop that helps with our local abuse shelter or women’s home which gives back to the community.
The fall season is one of my favorites. I so enjoy the colors on the trees which have been brilliant this year, at least around our home. We have a beautiful red maple that showed off so great this year with all it’s red leaves!
Changing of seasons can also mean a time to reflect on our previous months and evaluate where we were and how far we’ve come.
For me, it was a major personal struggle and battle after watching the tornado plow its way into town. I have little memory of June-July-August. I am so very thankful for my wonderful husband who took such great care of me as well as my mentor and a counselor for helping me wade through all the sludge. As I began to deal with past issues I began to see a light at the end of the tunnel which was certainly not a train. Inner healing is a deep process and rarely is it NOT messy. I was so blessed to have such a good support team.
And with the changing of the season of fall comes the anticipation of the holidays. We’ll gather around the table and stuff our self full of turkey…much like the turkey is stuffed. Then we’ll make our way towards Christmas with our glazed-eyed look as we await those credit card bills after the first of the year. Well some may but we won’t. I’m pretty much done with Christmas shopping which is just as I like it. I can now sit back and enjoy the true meaning of the season. This year I’ve made most of our gifts which are from our heart of love.
I pray that as you too are making your seasonal changes you will be able to pause and ask God to reveal any thing you need to let go of before moving forward. Also, that He will show you just how you are to celebrate the upcoming holidays.
Please feel free to look around. Leave a comment if you wish. We're so glad you stopped by.
