Physical abuse: This is the most recognizable form of abuse and includes: welts, burns, bites, broken bones, internal injuries, cigarette burns, immersion burns or dry burns.
Emotional abuse: Excessive criticisms, inappropriate or excessive demands on the child, withholding communication and routinely labeling, name calling or humiliating the child.
Physical/emotional neglect: Occurs when parents or guardians do not provide necessary food, shelter, medical care, supervision and education necessary for child. Isolation of child. Emotional neglect may occur when a child is deprived of love, stimulation and security.
Sexual abuse: The exploitation of the child not legally considered an adult for sexual gratification of an adult; obscene language; pornography; fondling; molesting; oral sex; intercourse and sodomy.
It is reported that 90% of child abusers are family members not--- strangers.
